This study will explore the general conditions for research and
development of converging technologies (CT) in Austria. Several goals
will be pursued: firstly, the term "converging technologies" and its
different meanings, definitions and connotations will be represented
and analysed. The second goal is to survey international research
activities in this field, especially on European level. Eventually,
Austrian actors and contact partners will be identified for a possible
Austrian engagement in CT research and development.
