What does it take to pull the Danish transport system in a more sustainable direction? The project looks upon a world where oil scarcity and demands for reduction of carbon emissions force us to look for alternative energy sources – the transport sector being no exception. The project will examine alternative ways to transform the Danish transport system into a 100 % renewable energy (RE) based system and look upon the consequences this might have on citizens everyday life and society as a hole. What are the obstacles in doing such a transformation? And how can we meet the technical, organizational and economical challenges? Central to the project is the development of a main scenario of a fully RE-based transport system in 2050 and a second scenario for 2020 based on best available technology (BAT).
With this project The Danish Board of Technology whish to foster an important dialogue between politicians, stakeholders and experts in the field of transportation. The target is a common understanding of obstacles and challenges towards a sustainable transport system. What knowledge is needed for solutions? And how are they going to be organized in future strategies and planning?
