Social consequences of biotechnology in agriculture

Public debate on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) is strongly influenced by consumer health and environmental protection issues. Social, economic and political consequences of these technologies, being equally important, tend to be somewhat overlooked. In order to set this discussion into a broader context and deepen public debate this article presents some new perspectives on GMOs.
