How do you involve the citizens in figuring out what should be the subject of EU research and innovation? You could, for instance, ask them about their visions for a desirable and sustainable future and that is exactly what we did at a national vision-workshop in the EU-project CIMULACT.
A desirable and sustainable future
On a Saturday in November, 29 citizens participated in a vision-workshop for the CIMULACT-project, which is a shortening for “Citizen and Multi-Actor Consultation on Horizon 2020”. (Horizon 2020 is a framework program for EU’s research and innovation) The participants spend the whole day working their way to 6 visions for a desirable and sustainable future.
The titles of these 6 visions are as follows:
- The future Nature-city
· A More Green World
· Holistic Management and Ethical Economy
· Physical and Mental Health
· A Democratic Society with Actual Equal Opportunities
· A Sustainable Globe
These six Danish visions will, along with visions from each of the other 29 participating countries in CIMULACT, form the basis for a number of processes of engagement intended to produce unique and concrete input for the EU research agenda.
