The future of the European science and technology field depends on Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). Wider engagement with European citizens, stakeholders and users is a crucial part of this emerging landscape. Regardless of what role you play in research and innovation in the future you will need to consider how societal actors can work with you to address societal challenges.
RRI requires research to be inclusive, anticipatory, reflexive and responsive, and there is a vital role for citizens, stakeholders and users in making the vision of RRI a reality. Already today tens of thousands Europeans are involved in participatory processes every year, and institutions are seeing the benefits.
The two-day conference Engaging Society in Responsible Research and Innovation: What’s Next? marks the culmination of Engage2020. The EU-funded project has spent two years mapping engagement methods and practice across Europe. The conference will present the results of the project and stage discussions of trends, needs, tools and instruments for an increased and better societal engagement in research and innovation.
Learn: Acquire knowledge about the latest and most promising developments in public engagement in research and innovation. The conference will be useful for both those new to engagement and those with considerable experience.
Discuss: The conference will focus on how to take engagement to the next level. Learn more about mainstreaming public engagement in Horizon 2020 and good practices from across Europe and beyond.
Network: Meet internationally recognised practitioners and researchers in the field of public engagement. The conference will bring together leading doers, thinkers and policy makers from across Europe and across the European institutions.
Train: The conference will provide multiple interactive small group sessions. These opportunities will help equip you with the skills and inspiration you need to start your own public engagement projects.
There is no attendance fee, but pre-registration is required. The seats are limited and are given on a first come first serve basis.
