British constituents have been given a personal dashboard which provides them with an overview as well as the necessary resources for engaging in local, regional and national elections. Could this idea inspire Denmark?
Citizens are not always fully aware of their possibilities for exercising their democratic influence simply by casting a vote.
Great national elections are almost impossible to miss but on a busy schedule it is easy to overlook a regional, municipal or neighborhood council election. In Great Britain they have tried to remedy this by developing a ‘democratic dashboard’, giving the individual citizen an overview of the specific elections he or she is allowed to participate in. At the same time, these dashboards provide the citizen with knowledge and resources needed for engagement. Maybe this approach could inspire Denmark to do something similar?
