Hearing on Alternative Medicine

At the request of the Danish Parliament, The Danish Board of Technology arranged a hearing with the purpose of discussing the future role of alternative medicine in Denmark. The hearing took place on March 19th, 2002 at the Danish Parliament.

Alternative medicine is expanding in Denmark - more and more citizens use it as an alternative to conventional medicine and treatment. Increasing demand for alternatives to the official health care system has highlighted the need for a debate on the future role of alternative medicine in Denmark.

The hearing gave an overview of the the Danish market for alternative medicine and gave examples of alternative treatments - foreign as well as domestic. The hearing also focused on the discussion of different ways of evaluating the effect of alternative medicine, and it evolved around the debate of different ways of integrating and/or separating alternative and conventional medicine.

Unfortunately, there is only material in Danish available about the hearing.
